New in BandTools: Create a newsletter from an email and block AI crawlers
Hi,
We’ve added a couple of major new features to BandTools. Read what’s new below.
Create a newsletter from an email
If your BandTools plan includes the feature, you can now send a newsletter by writing an email and sending it to your BandTools account. Each account with this feature gets a unique secret email address. You can view or copy this email address on the new SendTo tab within your BandTools settings:

If you send an email to your account’s SendTo address then a newsletter will be created from the email’s contents and automatically sent to all your subscribers.

If you send an email to your account’s SendTo address then a newsletter will be created from the email’s contents and automatically sent to all your subscribers.
- You can use images within the newsletter email
- You can attach MP3 or MP4 audio files, MP4 video clips and PDF documents as long as the files are only a few megabytes in size
- You can use merge tags as normal as you might when writing a newsletter within BandTools itself
Take care not to share your personal BandTools email address with anyone else, because anyone who has it will be able to write and send newsletters to all your subscribers.
Block AI crawlers
If your BandTools account plan includes the newsletter archive feature, there is a new option on the Newsletter settings page for preventing AI crawlers from indexing your newsletter archive:

This setting is turned on by default. If you’re happy for your newsletters to be used to train AI models in future then you can turn it off.
Note that this feature is dependent upon AI crawlers correctly identifying themselves when indexing content on BandTools. AI crawlers from major AI vendors such an Open AI and Anthropic do this, but we can’t guarantee that AI crawlers from less scrupulous vendors won’t identify themselves as regular web browsers and slip through the net.
We hope you enjoy these new features. Happy sending!
John
