New in BandTools: Newsletter attachments, background and account images and much more

Hi there!

We’ve been hard at work making some exciting updates to BandTools. Read what’s new below.

Newsletter attachments

As well as images, you can now send other kinds of file with your newsletters:

  • MP3 or MP4 audio clips
  • MP4 video clips
  • PDF documents

Simply click the paperclip file attachment toolbar button or drag a file into the newsletter editor to attach it. The maximum allowed size per individual file is 20 MB.

Note that due to the differences between various email clients, these file attachments may not display inline at the position you attached them within your newsletter email text. However, they will display at the correct position in your newsletter archive web pages if applicable.

Page design background images

If your BandTools plan includes the feature, you can now customise your subscribe, confirmation and unsubscribe pages with a background image up to 2 MB in size:

Click the Change... button when editing one of your page designs to add, change or remove a background image for that page:

Account images

You can now personalise your account with a profile picture. Click on the Account menu top-right then click on the circle to upload an image:

If your BandTools plan includes the newsletter archive feature, this image will also be displayed next to your newsletter name and description there.

Mobile improvements

All of the public BandTools pages such as the Sign-In page and the newsletter archive pages now work much better on mobile. The user interface you see once you’ve signed in is also better, but still a work in progress. It will continue to improve as we work on it further.

Performance improvements

Pages within the newsletter archive now load significantly faster.

Status page

The eagle-eyed amongst you might have noticed a new Status link in the footer when you’re signed in to BandTools. This goes to a new status page you can check if you think BandTools is having issues and need to confirm it’s not just a problem for you. Note that it’s not hosted on the same infrastructure as BandTools itself.

We hope you enjoy these new features. Happy sending!

John
