# BandTools — Features

> Everything BandTools does for musicians, feature by feature. Each section has a short video clip from the product tour and notes on which plans include the feature. BandTools is an email newsletter platform built specifically for musicians; the Solo plan is free forever.

## Up and running in two minutes

Choose a username, name your newsletter and confirm your email address, or continue with Google. There is no card to enter and no trial clock, and your first newsletter, a short walkthrough of the editor, is already waiting in your drafts.

- Sign up with an email address and password, or continue with Google. (All plans)
- No credit card and no trial period on the free Solo plan. (All plans)
- A first newsletter is written for you, ready to send to yourself and delete. (All plans)
- Your own address is subscribed to your list, so you always see what your fans see. (All plans)

## A subscribe page that looks like you

Every account gets a hosted subscribe page, and it should look like you, not like us: your colours, your fonts, your words above the form, and a confirmation email you write yourself. Share it as a link, as a QR code for the merch table, or as a form embedded on your own website.

- Custom colours, fonts and text on the subscribe, confirmation and unsubscribe pages. (All plans)
- Ready-made themes, saved themes of your own and background images. (Headliner)
- Your own confirmation email, with merge tags for your name and newsletter. (All plans)
- Share by link, QR code or an embeddable sign-up form. (All plans)
- Fans confirm by email before they join, so nobody ends up on your list by accident. (All plans)

## Your list, in one place

Everyone who signs up lives in one simple list that you can search, filter and add to by hand. Bringing a list from somewhere else? Import the CSV. BandTools finds the email address in each row, sends everyone a confirmation so nobody joins without agreeing to, and reports the rows it could not use.

- Up to 500 subscribers on Solo, 1,000 on Artist and 5,000 on Headliner. (All plans)
- Import subscribers from a CSV file, with a report of the rows that could not be imported. (All plans)
- Export your list as CSV or JSON whenever you like. (All plans)
- Per-subscriber delivery history and an activity log of subscribes and unsubscribes. (All plans)
- Email notifications when a fan subscribes or unsubscribes. (Artist and Headliner)

## A clean editor, made for musicians

Headings, bold, links, lists and photos, with nothing more to learn. Merge tags fill in your name, your newsletter, your website and your social profiles when the email goes out, and you can attach the demo itself as an MP3.

Send yourself a preview at any point, duplicate a sent newsletter to start from something you have already written, and on Artist and Headliner, email a newsletter in from anywhere with SendTo.

- Rich text editor with photos, links and lists. (All plans)
- MP3 attachments: a player in mail apps that support one, and a link to listen in the rest. (All plans)
- Merge tags: placeholders that insert your own saved details and links, from your name and newsletter to your website, subscribe page and Bandcamp, Spotify or YouTube profiles. (All plans)
- The same merge tags work in your confirmation email and on your subscribe, confirmation and unsubscribe pages. (All plans)
- Send a preview to yourself, or see the finished email, footer and all, in the Preview tab. (All plans)
- Keyboard shortcuts, including ⌘S to save; press ? to see them all. (All plans)
- Duplicate a sent newsletter as the starting point for the next one. (All plans)
- SendTo: a secret address of your own that turns an ordinary email into a newsletter. (Artist and Headliner)

- [Watch: Writing (0:58)](https://bandtools-production-eu-files.s3.eu-central-003.backblazeb2.com/videos/long-tour/2026-09-04/04-writing.mp4)

## Work together

Newsletters are not always a one-person job. On Artist and Headliner, a bandmate or manager with a BandTools account can work on a draft with you, and only one of you can edit at a time, so nobody overwrites anybody.

- Invite collaborators to a draft by email address. (Artist and Headliner)
- A live editing lock so two people never overwrite each other. (Artist and Headliner)
- Collaborators can edit and preview; only the owner can send or schedule. (Artist and Headliner)
- Revoke access at any time. Shared drafts appear in the collaborator’s own sidebar. (Artist and Headliner)

## Send now, or schedule it

Press Send now and the newsletter goes to every confirmed subscriber. On Artist and Headliner, pick a day and an hour instead, and cancel any time before it goes out.

Afterwards, the delivery report shows who received it, who bounced, and why. It reports delivery, not behaviour: BandTools never tracks whether a fan opened an email or what they clicked.

- Two newsletters a month on Solo; no limit on Artist and Headliner. (All plans)
- Schedule a newsletter for any hour in the month ahead, and cancel the schedule any time before then. (Artist and Headliner)
- A delivery report for every newsletter, with the reason for any failure. (All plans)
- No open tracking, no click tracking and no tracking pixels. Reports show whether an email arrived, never what a fan did with it. (All plans)
- One click sends a past newsletter to the subscribers who joined after it went out. (All plans)
- Fans can reply to your newsletters and the replies reach your inbox. (Headliner)

- [Watch: Sending (0:40)](https://bandtools-production-eu-files.s3.eu-central-003.backblazeb2.com/videos/long-tour/2026-09-04/06-sending.mp4)

## Your archive, your domain

On Headliner, every newsletter you send can be published to your own online archive, so new fans can read what they missed. Then make it yours all the way through: send from your own domain and serve the archive from an address such as news.yourband.com, with the DNS records checked for you.

- A public archive of your newsletters, with pinning and per-newsletter visibility. (Headliner)
- Archive pages designed to match your site, plus an Atom feed. (Headliner)
- A setting that asks AI crawlers not to index your archive. (Headliner)
- Send from your own domain, with DNS records checked and verified for you. (Headliner)
- Serve your archive and subscribe page from your own domain. (Headliner)

- [Watch: Your archive, your domain (0:41)](https://bandtools-production-eu-files.s3.eu-central-003.backblazeb2.com/videos/long-tour/2026-09-04/07-archive-and-domain.mp4)
- [This section on the website](https://bandtools.app/features#archive-and-domain)

## Automatic newsletters

If you already write somewhere with a feed (a blog, a Bandcamp journal, a podcast), BandTools can turn each new post into a newsletter for you, either as a draft to check or sent automatically. Available on the Artist and Headliner plans.

- Create newsletters automatically from any RSS or Atom feed. (Artist and Headliner)
- Choose between drafts for you to review and fully automatic sending. (Artist and Headliner)
- Set how often the feed is checked, and include the featured image. (Artist and Headliner)
- Pause and resume at any time. (Artist and Headliner)

- [Watch: Automatic newsletters (0:27)](https://bandtools-production-eu-files.s3.eu-central-003.backblazeb2.com/videos/long-tour/2026-09-04/08-automatic-newsletters.mp4)
- [This section on the website](https://bandtools.app/features#automatic-newsletters)

## Connect it to your other tools

Connect BandTools to the rest of your setup through webhooks and a REST API. Webhooks tell your other tools the moment someone subscribes or a newsletter goes out, signed so you can trust them, and the API lets you build whatever you need, on every plan.

- Webhooks for subscriber and newsletter events, with signed payloads. (Headliner)
- A REST API with personal access tokens and a full reference. (All plans)
- Example API clients in several languages. (All plans)

## Your account, your plan

Your account is yours to look after. Dark mode for late-night writing, two-factor authentication with any authenticator app and recovery codes, and a second password check before sensitive changes. You can download everything BandTools holds about you and your subscribers at any time.

Three plans: Solo is free for as long as you like; Artist adds scheduling, collaborators, SendTo and automatic newsletters; Headliner adds the archive, custom domains, replies, themes and webhooks. Upgrades are instant, and downgrades wait until the end of what you have paid for.

- Dark mode across the whole app. (All plans)
- Two-factor authentication with recovery codes, and re-authentication for sensitive changes. (All plans)
- Download all of your data, and delete your account yourself. (All plans)
- Change plan at any time, with no contracts. (All plans)
